About The Position

The Corporate Affairs Intern supports the organization’s internal and external communication efforts. This role assists with writing, content creation, community relations, employee communications, and corporate reputation projects. The intern will work closely with the Tennessee Operations Community Engagement team to help execute communication strategies that align with company values and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Affairs, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Basic understanding of communication principles, media relations, and brand messaging.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with design or media tools (Canva, Adobe, video editing) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with drafting internal communications such as newsletters, announcements, employee updates, and intranet content.
  • Supports external communication tasks, including press releases, social media content, and website updates.
  • Engages strategically with community members, regional government officials and other interested parties; when needed, recruits a knowledgeable spokesperson or information source to assist.
  • Helps coordinate corporate events, community outreach activities, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Conducts research related to industry trends, community partnerships, and corporate responsibility programs.
  • Supports the development of presentations, talking points, and other communication materials for leaders.
  • Helps monitor media coverage, social media engagement, and public sentiment around company activities.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather information and ensure message accuracy.
  • Assists in maintaining communication calendars, project timelines, and content archives.
  • Ensures all communications reflect the organization’s tone, brand, and values.
