About The Position

The Corporate Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting corporate-level reporting for an Oil & Gas organization. This role will be responsible for monthly close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific accounting standards such as successful efforts (SE) or full cost (FC) accounting. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of Oil & Gas accounting practices, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or progress toward CPA.
  • Experience with SEC reporting or public-company environments.
  • Prior work with upstream or midstream operational accounting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries for corporate entities.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and internal reporting packages.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Assist with consolidation of multiple subsidiaries or business units.
  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and resolve variances.
  • Prepare entries related to asset retirement obligations (ARO), depletion, depreciation, and amortization (DD&A).
  • Assist with revenue, joint interest billing (JIB), and production accounting data as needed.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors during annual audits.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate accounting data.
  • Prepare audit schedules and assist with external financial audits.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX/internal controls and company policies.
  • Participate in process improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
