About The Position

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Coronary CT Registered Nurse (RN). The Coronary CT RN is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care during coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) procedures. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, clinical support, and collaboration with cardiology and imaging teams to ensure safe and effective diagnostic outcomes. The RN is accountable for maintaining compliance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services Hospitals and Nursing Division policies, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the Patient Bill of Rights. This role promotes a healing and supportive environment, fostering patient-centered care and continuous professional development.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least one year experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting.
  • Current NY State RN license.
  • Documentation of current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days employment.

  • Previous experience in an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical and surgical history related to cardiovascular health, medication review, allergies, and relevant lab results
  • Initiate and maintain intravenous (IV) access (antecubital or above) for contrast administration
  • Administer medications, including nitroglycerin and oral beta blockers or calcium channel blockers, to achieve optimal heart rate for imaging
  • Continuously monitor patient vital signs and response throughout the procedure
  • Identify and respond promptly to adverse reactions, including complications from contrast media
  • Educate patients on procedure expectations, preparation, potential risks, and post-procedure care
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists, CT technologists, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and medications in the electronic medical record (EMR)
