About The Position

Core Teachers at Elite Charter Academy are responsible for maintaining and enriching their expertise in their subject area, developing lesson plans aligned with state and charter learning standards, and supporting the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) through in-class and pull-out interventions. They coordinate lesson plans with other teachers for interdisciplinary reinforcement, provide direct and indirect instruction, and engage in long and short-term planning to address individual student needs. Teachers are expected to prepare students for assessments, evaluate progress, and provide quarterly achievement reports to parents. The role involves creating an inviting and innovative learning environment, effective classroom management, and accepting feedback and coaching. Additionally, Core Teachers serve as advisors, overseeing academic and behavioral progress, and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. They also develop and monitor work practices for effectiveness and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enrich expertise in the subject area they will teach.
  • Develop lesson plans that ensure the attainment of state learning standards and the additional specific grade-by-grade learning standards set forth in the charter.
  • Support Elite’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) through “pushing in” to the classroom as well as “pulling-out” students in small group or individually for interventions.
  • Coordinate lesson plans with other teachers to maximize possibilities for teaching similar topics in the same general time frame, thus reinforcing student knowledge on an interdisciplinary basis.
  • Provide direct and indirect instruction.
  • Long and short-term planning addressing individual needs of students.
  • Prepare students adequately for all required assessments.
  • Evaluate students’ progress.
  • Prepare at least quarterly individual student achievement reports for parents.
  • Provide an inviting, exciting, innovative, learning environment.
  • Engage in effective and appropriate classroom management.
  • Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
  • Serve as an advisor to students, including organizing advisory groups, overseeing the academic and behavioral progress.
  • Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the Principal.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors work practices, systems, and methods that are effective, efficient, and consistent with standards, policies, and procedures.
