Core Engine Calibration Engineer

StellantisAuburn Hills, MI

About The Position

The Calibration Engineer is responsible for generating optimal base engine calibrations meeting all the program objectives in terms of performance, control stability, lowest fuel consumption whilst minimizing the engine out and tailpipe emissions levels. The setup and control of all engine sensors and actuators for all engine operating conditions under both steady state and transient engine operation is part of the responsibilities. The Calibration Engineer is also responsible for conducting engine hardware and systems testing and supporting all other teams with their standardized and specialized engine test requests. The responsibilities will be carried out across all the different propulsion system concepts and will include varying levels of electrification of the driveline. The Calibration Engineer will plan and coordinate day to day activities of an engine and powertrain dynamometer and does include collaboration with technicians and laboratory support engineers. In addition, test plans and timelines will be developed, and reports generated to communicate the status of the program to the larger development and management teams. Evaluations will occur with new engine hardware and powertrain technologies for future and carry over applications. The Calibration Engineer will analyze and solve complex system problems as they relate to engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and base engine calibration development. The Calibration Engineer will manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of engine mapping data. The engineer will also actively participate in the decision process of base engine hardware selection and base engine calibration to achieve the functional objectives.
