About The Position

The Core Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all core technicians are properly trained on basic aspects of sterile processing and the preparation of case carts. This role involves assessing departmental processes and developing plans for improvement, assisting with the operation of the surgical core, instrument rooms, operating room, and prosthesis and supply areas. The coordinator also manages daily activities supporting the surgical practice, practices good inventory control, and covers for the Prosthesis Coordinator when needed. Additionally, this position provides supervision of staff and vendors in the core, supply, and prosthesis areas, manages inventory, instrumentation, implant maintenance, and updates the surgical inventory management system.

Requirements

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required
  • A minimum of two (2) years of surgical experience and one (1) year leadership experience
  • Experience and knowledge in surgical instrument handling and processing
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Sterilization certification through IAHCSMM OR CBSPD required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of supply chain in surgical setting preferred
  • Previous core supervisor experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and performs daily activities that support the surgical practice.
  • Practices good inventory control techniques.
  • Covers for the Prosthesis Coordinator in their absence.
  • Provides supervision of staff and vendors to the core, and/or the supply and prosthesis areas, maintains inventory, instrumentation, implant management and maintenance, and updates the surgical inventory management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
