The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: Grade: Professional 305 Pay Range: $56,500.00 - $84,700.00

Requirements

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging, and understandable content.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to build productive working relationships across teams.
  • Ability to listen effectively, understand project objectives, and deliver high-quality work aligned with business goals.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with content calendars and coordinating planned content initiatives.
  • Writing samples required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience writing SEO-driven content for websites, blogs, and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Experience supporting email marketing, direct mail, broadcast, or multi-channel marketing initiatives.
  • Familiarity with email template development and coding.

Responsibilities

  • Writing all types of marketing content for the university, including content presented on the university’s website, email, direct mail, and print campaigns.
  • Taking an extensive role in messaging strategy, product marketing campaign strategy, and lifecycle campaign management.
  • Ensuring copy integrity of marketing communications materials and programs through strategic direction and development of targeted messaging.
  • Ensuring copy is consistent with the university’s brand standards.
  • Translating complex ideas into compelling, audience-focused content that drives engagement, supports brand objectives, and advances the university's mission.
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders and external partners to understand business objectives and develop strategic, audience-centered messaging.
  • Creating compelling marketing content across digital, web, email, blog, print, and campaign channels while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Collaborating with designers and creative partners to develop concepts and execute integrated marketing initiatives.
  • Writing and managing website content, SEO-focused assets, blog content, and marketing copy that supports enrollment and brand goals.
  • Overseeing content development for vendor, affiliate, and partner websites as directed.
  • Incorporating feedback from business partners, legal, compliance, and marketing stakeholders while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Contributing to workflow improvements, strengthening cross-functional relationships, and staying current on industry trends, content strategy, and SEO best practices.
