About The Position

St. Louis CITY SC is seeking a Copywriter to join their in-house creative marketing and content team. This role is an opportunity to be part of a club that is redefining modern soccer franchises by combining elite sports with creative storytelling. The ideal candidate is a conceptual thinker with a strong understanding of marketing strategies and content creation, capable of writing with purpose. The Copywriter will collaborate across departments to develop ideas that go beyond sports, connect with fans, and energize soccer culture and the city of St. Louis. This is a full-time, exempt position where the Copywriter will manage projects from concept to execution and inspire their colleagues.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a creative role in advertising or marketing.
  • Strong portfolio of conceptually driven, high-quality work.
  • Strategic and conceptual thinking, with a knack for solving problems in unexpected ways.
  • Ability to write sharp, inspiring copy that connects emotionally and elevates brands.
  • Understanding of the game, the culture, and the nuances of soccer fans.
  • Thrive in a team environment, bringing positivity, energy, and a willingness to collaborate.
  • Detail-oriented, ensuring every word and idea is polished.
  • Passion for creating work that resonates deeply.

Responsibilities

  • From ideation to execution, work with art directors/designers and creative directors to guide the creative process, ensuring every word, campaign, and concept meets the highest standards of craft and creativity.
  • Develop campaign ideas that break through the noise, connect with culture and make an emotional impact on fans.
  • Support matchday mandatories for Apple TV and provide support to the social team with ideas for digital channels.
  • Partner closely with art directors, designers, strategists, producers, and creative directors to ensure cohesive work aligned with the club’s vision and values.
  • Create work that is authentic to the game and resonates with fans locally, nationally, and globally.
  • Tell stories that are bigger than soccer and support the club's vision of a New St. Louis.
  • Write, edit, and refine copy across various platforms, including social media, email communications, and long-form storytelling.
  • Help evolve the CITY SC brand and voice by seeking new ways to connect with fans and the community.
