About The Position

As a Copywriting Intern at Hiebing, you’ll join the Create team and partner with art directors, writers and other creatives to turn insights into ideas that connect brands with people. You’ll contribute to real client work, from early brainstorms and rough concepts through polished copy, while developing your skills and portfolio. The role is suited to someone who loves language, looks beyond the first idea, collaborates well and is curious about exploring new possibilities. The position is based in Madison, Wisconsin, or Austin, Texas. Candidates must live in Wisconsin or Texas and be able to work from the corresponding office. The work arrangement is hybrid: in-office collaboration Monday through Wednesday, with remote flexibility Thursday and Friday, in an open-office setting. The internship starts in fall 2026 and continues through May 2027. The Create team prefers interns to work 40 hours per week; applicants should include their availability during the academic year. Compensation is $15 per hour. A portfolio is required, and candidates must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without employer sponsorship.

  • Provide a portfolio demonstrating writing ability, conceptual thinking and creative potential; class assignments, personal projects and previous client work are welcome.
  • Strong grammar, spelling and editing skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to adapt tone and style for different brands and audiences.
  • Curiosity about people, culture, brands and emerging creative tools, including AI.
  • Collaborative approach and openness to giving, receiving and applying feedback.
  • Initiative, attention to detail and willingness to ask questions when direction is needed.
  • Must be based in Wisconsin or Texas and able to work from the corresponding office.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without employer sponsorship.
  • Include a portfolio link and any password needed to access the work with the application.
  • Include availability during the academic year with the application.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative concepts alongside art directors, writers and other team members.

  • Bring multiple ideas to the table and help build on the ideas of others.
  • Use feedback to strengthen creative thinking and execution.
  • Explore AI tools for research, brainstorming and creative exploration, applying personal judgment, originality and craft to final work.
  • Follow agency guidance on AI use, protect confidential information, and check AI outputs for accuracy, bias and brand fit.
  • Manage assignments, communicate progress and meet deadlines with support from the team.
