About The Position

The New Republic is seeking an experienced, full-time Copy Editor to join their team. This role will focus on editing The TNR Blue Book, a new morning newsletter covering Democrats and progressive groups, as well as other editorial newsletters. The position will also provide support to the current copy editor for NewRepublic.com as needed. The ideal candidate is a quick and meticulous editor with a keen eye for detail, capable of smoothly transitioning between newsletter production, marketing emails, and news content. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively are essential.

Requirements

• At least seven years of copyediting experience, preferably at a news website or magazine.
• Experience with basic fact-checking.
• Familiarity with AP style.
• Ability to learn third-party applications.
• Experience building editorial newsletters.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to design effective systems to update staff of both house and AP style changes.

Responsibilities

• Edit The TNR Blue Book, a new morning newsletter.
• Edit other editorial newsletters.

• Manage newsletter production and distribution to subscribers.
• Assist in maintaining TNR’s style guide and updating staff on style changes.
