About The Position

ArcelorMittal Mines et Infrastructure Canada is seeking an Outage Coordinator for the Port and Handling sector. The incumbent coordinates the safe execution of work on equipment during planned shutdowns. The coordinator reports to the Section Chief, Planning and Reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a college diploma (DEC) in a relevant field
  • Relevant experience in the maintenance field

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the preparation and follow-up of production shutdowns
  • Defines the expectations of the major shutdowns team
  • Ensures communication between operations and maintenance to meet deadlines
  • Communicates needs, impacts, and risks to stakeholders
  • Prepares and coordinates shutdowns (including washing/lockout strategy)
  • Establishes the annual shutdown schedule according to the maintenance strategy
  • Monitors critical parts and critical path tasks
  • Coordinates with other sectors and external partners
  • Develops safe work methods (e.g., lockout, equipment preparation)
  • Determines shutdown durations, needs, and performance criteria
  • Analyzes shutdown results and produces post-mortems
  • Follows up on action plans
  • Recommends improvements in reliability and maintenance strategy
  • Leads reliability analyses (Pareto, problematic equipment)
  • Optimizes shutdown performance (e.g., MTTR)
  • Ensures monitoring of best practices
  • Supports the team with improvement tools (SMED, 5S, Lean, etc.)
