About The Position

The Family Ministry Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating faith formation opportunities for children, parents, and families. This role involves organizing various programs, developing resources, and creating an environment that supports Catholic family life within the parish. The coordinator will also focus on marriage and parenting ministry, family events, connecting families to parish life, family service and outreach, parent communication, small groups and community building, support for families in difficult situations, volunteer recruitment and formation, and youth ministries. Additionally, this role will provide support for elementary school religious education classes, collaborating with teachers to create engaging learning experiences.

Requirements

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Outlook, Facebook, Instagram, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and website/content management platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
Ability to coordinate schedules.
Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, families, and parishioners.

Nice To Haves

A Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministry, Theology or Education is preferred.
Experience working in a Catholic parish, particularly in family ministry or religious education is strongly valued.

Responsibilities

Coordinate faith formation opportunities for children, parents, and families, including family catechesis, retreats, workshops, and parish missions.
Develop resources to help parents practice the Catholic faith at home and create opportunities for families to pray together and learn about Scripture.
Organize family-oriented Advent, Lent, and Easter activities.
Organize programs for married couples focusing on communication, conflict resolution, prayer, and spirituality.
Offer parenting workshops addressing different stages of family life and develop opportunities for couples to strengthen their marriages.
Coordinate marriage enrichment events and retreats, and connect couples and parents with appropriate professional or pastoral resources.
Plan regular parish events specifically designed for families, such as movie nights, game nights, picnics, service days, and holiday celebrations.
Ensure events are welcoming to families with children of different ages.
Personally welcome new families to the parish and develop a system for contacting newly registered families.
Help families find ministries where they can participate and encourage involvement in service, liturgical ministries, youth ministry, and small groups.
Identify families who have stopped participating and develop strategies to reconnect with them.
Create opportunities for families to serve together and coordinate family participation in parish outreach programs.
Develop service projects involving parents and children and connect families with local charitable organizations.
Encourage families to view service as an integral part of their Catholic identity.
Maintain regular communication with parents through various channels, including email, parish communications, and social media.
Create a monthly or quarterly Family Ministry Newsletter and provide parents with practical resources for prayer and faith formation at home.
Maintain an updated calendar of family activities and ensure parents are informed about available opportunities.
Develop small groups for married couples and families, and recruit and train family-group leaders.
Help families build friendships with other Catholic families and create groups based on specific needs.
Encourage families to gather outside of formal parish programs.
Help identify families experiencing significant challenges and coordinate pastoral support for those facing illness, death, separation, unemployment, or other difficulties.
Connect families with parish resources and appropriate professional services, working closely with the pastor, deacons, and other pastoral staff.
Recruit parishioners to serve in family ministry and develop volunteer teams.
Train volunteers in hospitality, child safety, communication, and Catholic family ministry.
Schedule and coordinate volunteers for family events, and regularly thank and recognize volunteers.
Lead and grow ministry opportunities for early childhood through high school aged children, planning and facilitating monthly youth gatherings or special events.
Build authentic relationships with young people through teaching, mentoring, and discipleship.
Provide engaging, faith-filled lessons and support for elementary religion classes.
Collaborate closely with Our Lady of Hope teachers to develop meaningful learning experiences that help students deepen their knowledge, understanding, and love of the Catholic faith.
Coordinate service projects, outreach, and social-justice opportunities for youth.
