About The Position

St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, Texas, is hiring a Coordinator for Youth Ministry. This position will act as a liaison between the immediate director and the Pastor, parents and their adolescents to coordinate programs for appropriate ages. Have a duty to acquire the appropriate formation, which their role demands, so that they may conscientiously, earnestly and diligently fulfill this role. Ministerial Character: The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed Be a liaison between the director, the Pastor, parents of youth and the parish Encourage and invite youth to attend events throughout the Diocese Faithfully represent the teachings of the Catholic Church with integrity in word and action Be familiar and in compliance with the CMSC (Creating and Maintaining a Safe Environment) as stated in the Diocesan Directory. Schedule and plan for a comprehensive youth ministry based upon the USCCB National Pastoral Framework entitled Listen, Teach, Send, as the primary guide for the Catholic approach to young people inspired by Pope Francis’s apostolic exhortation Christus Vivit, which calls local parishes and faith communities to renew and revitalize by journeying and evangelizing our younger generations; also implement the US Bishops Document entitled Renewing the Vision. Recruit, train and develop young people and adults that will assist in the scheduling and planning a comprehensive ministry for the youth to simultaneously mentor servant leaders Perform other duties as assigned Mental and Physical Demands: Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more Ability to maintain composure under duress

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • More than five years’ experience in a leadership role
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Possess an understanding of scriptural concepts such as discipleship and conversion; outreach, relationship building, symbols, and storytelling; foundations of youth retreats with experience, prayer and liturgy; current catechetical methods as it applies to youth ministry
  • Be able to utilize effective communication skills
  • Familiarity of the Bishop’s Document Renewing the Vision and the eight components
  • Working towards and open to developing the skills of the processes in human behavior based on a holistic approach of mind, body, soul integration
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening, including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
  • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
  • Must adhere to all diocesan policies and procedures
