Inspire the Next Generation to Move, Grow, and Thrive. POSITION SUMMARY: The Crossroads YMCA is seeking a fitness professional with a passion for the Y to be our next Personal Training Coordinator. The position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Wellness Director, the Personal Training Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Wellness Director in managing the Personal Training Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Job responsibilities include planning, scheduling (small group training classes), coordinating/teaching/scheduling youth and teen fitness classes, implementing and maintaining programs in personal training as directed. 80% of work week will be on the floor conducting personal training sessions. Be able to work as early as 5 am and as late as 8 pm in order to accommodate the majority of members. Also be available to work weekends. Schedule, hire, and train personal trainers. Evaluate employee performance and handle disciplinary issues with staff. Coach and shadow staffs ability to communicate with members and small group training participants to improve retention. Responsible for running monthly bank draft/auto renewals each month and reporting to Wellness Director. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. Introduces new members to group exercise communities based on their health and well-being goals. Satisfaction (Net Promoter Score) exceeding 65. Responsible for high monthly retention of personal training clients and for achieving personal training targets set by Wellness Director Responsible for making sure trainers are up to date on certifications. All trainers will use the same fitness assessment and alter based on what is appropriate for the current member. Provide fitness and equipment demonstrations and explanations for members and guests. Conduct regular follow up phone calls and provide surveys for members to fill out about their experience with personal training and small group training. Promote the facility and programs using social media, brochures, flyers, health fairs, etc. Perform CPR audits on all personal training staff. Ensure the overall health and safety of our members and program participants. Assist Wellness Director in the planning and organizing of the annual Hub Run 5K/2K race. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events. Play a role in securing gifts for the annual campaign. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in fitness or related field preferred and 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in supervising staff and implementing personal training programs.
  • ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or AFAA certification and CPR/AED certification
  • YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles, YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning within 90 days of being hired
  • A thorough knowledge of wellness programs, fitness testing, and evaluation
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn other software programs
  • All employees are expected to act in a manner in line with the YMCA values and within the confines of the information listed above.
  • Anyone found not acting in these manners will receive disciplinary measures up to and including verbal warnings, documented infractions, and/or termination.
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid.
  • Online trainings required prior to the start of employment.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends
  • Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must have high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform job responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
