About The Position

The Coordinator, Emergency Funds supports the coordination and administration of the Student Emergency Fund as part of the community resource request process. Reporting to the Director of Basic Needs, this role reviews student requests for emergency support, determines eligibility for funding, and ensures students receive timely and equitable assistance. The coordinator also plays a key role in tracking fund usage, evaluating program effectiveness, and connecting students with additional resources. This position helps ensure that students in crisis are met with dignity, compassion, and a seamless support experience.

Requirements

  • Best practices in financial assistance programs and emergency fund management.
  • College support services available to students in crisis.
  • Data collection, analysis, and reporting techniques related to financial disbursement and student support impact.
  • Understanding of crisis intervention and student-centered support models.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain processes and assist students effectively.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy while working with students in crisis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying resources and support for students' needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data management tools.
  • Experience with student information systems and service tracking platforms.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Two (2) years of related work experience in student services, financial assistance administration, or community resource coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process student requests for community resource support, identifying when the Student Emergency Fund is appropriate for financial assistance.
  • Ensure emergency funds are disbursed in a timely, equitable, and student-centered manner in collaboration with the Director of Basic Needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all emergency fund disbursements, including justification, student information, and funding amounts.
  • Coordinate emergency fund usage across different support services, ensuring that resources are applied appropriately based on students' needs.
  • Track and analyze emergency fund usage, identifying patterns in student needs and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Monitor and track trends in community resource requests, identifying areas for improvement or increased student need in specific areas.
  • Support data-informed decision-making by maintaining clean, consistent records aligned with institutional data management practices.
  • Serve as a resource to students navigating the emergency support process, offering guidance and compassion throughout the experience.
  • Ensure students are connected with additional support services both on campus and through community-based partnerships.
  • Provide follow-up support to students after emergency fund disbursement, ensuring that they have access to continued resources or assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Basic Needs to continuously review and improve the community resource request process, ensuring it remains student-centered and efficient.
  • Streamline communication and workflows between students, departments, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to ensure all available resources are utilized effectively and that students are made aware of the emergency support available to them.
  • Ensure that all emergency fund disbursements and community resource requests comply with college policies and relevant guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation on student interactions, disbursement decisions, and any relevant follow-up actions.
