About The Position

The Coordinator, School Psychologists will supervise, support, and evaluate district Psychological Services Providers (PSPs). This role involves recruiting and recommending school psychologists, coordinating with contract agencies, and managing assignments of PSPs, agency workers, temporary/part-time workers, and interns. The coordinator will also plan and conduct staff meetings, review professional development opportunities, and oversee budget items related to Psychological Services. Additionally, this position is responsible for the development, refinement, and implementation of psychological services procedures and guidelines, overseeing updates to the Psychological Services Handbook, and managing training for new staff and contract workers. The role includes managing caseloads, providing coverage as needed, guiding the internship coordinator, and attending district-level meetings. The coordinator will provide expertise in mental health, assessment, special education law, and related areas. They will also coordinate university MOUs, oversee practicum and internship placements, collaborate with campus administration, stay updated on research, assist with reporting and data compilation, and oversee department documentation. This role also assists in maintaining a comprehensive crisis intervention and response program, collaborates on crisis response protocols, assigns mentors to new staff, attends training, participates in committee meetings, serves as a resource to ARD committees, confers with administrators, teachers, and parents, and oversees the planning of department programs for parents. Finally, the coordinator will assist in approving materials and supplies and assigning coverage for Extended School Year (ESY) services.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate (preferred) degree in School, Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited college or university
  • Must hold a current license as a Licensed School Psychologist (LSP) granted by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC)/Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychology (TSBEP)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a school psychologist.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience in public school settings required

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support and evaluate district Psychological Services Providers (PSPs) in the completion of their assigned duties.
  • Recruit, interview and recommend to HR school psychologists to fill open allocations/coordinate with contract agencies to interview qualified and licensed professionals to fill open school psychologist allocations.
  • Works with lead psychologists and internship coordinator to manage assignments of district PSPs, agency workers, temporary/part time workers and interns.
  • Work to communicate with and maintain ongoing relationships with contract agencies to fill open school psychologist allocations.
  • Plan and conduct staff meetings for Psychological Services Providers and interns.
  • Review and approve professional development/training opportunities for Psychological Services Providers to ensure alignment with district goals and best practices in the field.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Assessment to steward local and federal budget items related to Psychological Services.
  • Oversee the development, refinement and implementation of psychological services procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance across all staff and alignment with district policy and state and federal guidelines.
  • Oversee updates to the Psychological Services Handbook.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of training for new staff and contract agency workers/temporary part time workers.
  • Manage caseloads and provide coverage as needed for Psychological Services Providers.
  • Oversee and guide the internship coordinator in the management of the APA Accredited Internship Training program.
  • Attend and participate in all required district district-level meetings.
  • Provide knowledge and guidance /expertise in the areas of mental health, assessment, special education law, and other relevant topic areas related to the practice of psychological services in schools.
  • Coordinate the development and renewal of university MOUs and oversee Advanced Practicum student and master’s level LSP Intern graduate student placements.
  • Participate in ongoing communication and collaboration with campus administration regarding the performance of Psychological Services Professionals assigned to their campuses.
  • Keep abreast of current research/literature and disseminate to Psychological Services Professionals.
  • Assist in compiling reports and data useful in assisting with district compliance and decision making.
  • Oversee department documentation including Laserfiche, Special Education Documentation Platforms, and Dataphile.
  • Assist the district in maintaining a comprehensive crisis intervention and response program.
  • Collaborate with MHIT Psychologists and Guidance & Counseling Department regarding crisis response protocols as needed.
  • Work with department Lead Psychologists to assign mentors to new staff/contractors.
  • Attend local and state training opportunities.
  • Participate/attend Region 4 Leadership and Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Serve as a resource to ARD committees as needed.
  • Confer with administrators, teachers and parents of students as needed.
  • Oversee/assist with the planning of department programs for the parents of students with an emotional disability, Autism, other disabilities such as Family Interaction Training (FIT) Clinic, Incredible Years Program, Parenting Courses.
  • Assist in evaluating, recommending, and approving materials and supplies necessary to support Psychological Services Providers.
  • Assist in assigning Psychological Services Provider coverage for Extended School Year (ESY) services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Assessment and the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services.
