About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Coordinator, Research Compliance Program. The Research Compliance Program Coordinator will support programs and committees that are critical to University’s commitment to research integrity and regulatory compliance, including the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). Research Compliance Program Coordinators play an important role in supporting researchers throughout the compliance process, providing administrative and regulatory support for compliance committees, assisting with outreach and education efforts, contributing to reporting and accreditation activities, and supporting other departmental activities. This position requires the ability to apply regulatory knowledge and professional judgment in a variety of situations while utilizing strong critical thinking, problem solving, and customer service skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience; OR Master’s degree and one (1) year of related work experience
  • Experience interpreting and applying rules, regulations, and policies and making recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct timely and thorough reviews of protocols submitted to the IACUC, IBC or other research compliance committees.
  • Communicate with researchers regarding protocol submission requirements, identifying deficiencies, committee determinations, and required revisions.
  • Provide administrative support to compliance committees by scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, distributing materials, facilitating meetings, accurately recording committee actions, preparing meeting minutes, and communicating committee decisions to researchers.
  • Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new compliance committee members.
  • Serve as the site administrator for protocol submission and management systems.
  • In consultation with committee chairs, conduct post-approval monitoring activities, including semi-annual inspections for the IACUC.
  • Develop training materials and educational resources for the research community.
  • Deliver presentations and trainings related to research compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Assist with reporting obligations to federal agencies and accrediting agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
