About The Position

Carnegie Hall seeks a Coordinator, Public Relations to provide general office support to the Public Relations team. This role involves serving as the Cision system administrator, assisting with digital press releases, media contact lists, coverage collection, and preparing weekly press clip reports. The coordinator will also manage electronic press release mailings, including HTML coding, and support specific programs by drafting press releases and pitch plans. Additional duties include assisting with special projects, performing press duties such as escorting media crews, and staffing concerts and events.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, journalism, arts administration, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid writing skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with technology, and learning new digital platforms and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support to the Public Relations team, including departmental phone coverage and assisting with information requests.
  • Serve as Cision system coordinator, building digital press releases using HTML, coordinating media contact lists, and preparing weekly press clip reports.
  • Maintain departmental subscriptions, complete paste-ups and scans of key articles, and prepare special coverage reports.
  • Maintain and update media websites (Carnegie Hall and Carnegie Hall+).
  • Prepare chronological concert listings for monthly press calendars.
  • Support select WMI programs by drafting press releases and pitch plans.
  • Participate in promotional work for national youth ensembles, including photography, social media, and media research.
  • Coordinate departmental systems for computers, phones, supplies, mail, and office files.
  • Plan for assembly/mailing of hard press kits.
  • Assist with press ticketing for concerts/events and provide back-up support for PR work with rental clients.
  • Proofread materials for the team.
  • Assist with photo tagging projects.
  • Participate in planning for season announcements and major events.
  • Work concert duty for Carnegie Hall performances, including distributing press tickets and working with photographers/videographers.
  • Work press duty during the day (rehearsals) as assigned, accompanying approved cameras in concert venues and the Resnick Education Wing.
