About The Position

The Pet Outreach Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination, delivery, and development of Atira’s Pet Outreach Program. This role provides leadership to program staff, oversees daily operations, and ensures services are delivered in alignment with organizational values, policies, and animal welfare standards. The Coordinator also supports tenants and their pets through direct service delivery and crisis response as needed. This program serves individuals who identify and live full time as women, including those who have experienced gender based violence and misogyny. To ensure a safe, accessible, trauma informed, and culturally responsive environment for residents, this position requires staff who identify and live full time as women (including cisgender, transgender, Two Spirit, intersex women) or non-binary to be eligible for this position. This requirement is consistent with established best practices under human rights laws for providing services to vulnerable groups and reflects our commitment to providing community based, gender responsive service delivery and supports the development of trust, safety, and meaningful engagement between residents/tenants/ participants and staff.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience in animal care and/or outreach, case management, or community-based support work; Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Pet First Aid, Fear Free, Low-stress handling certification or equivalent certifications
  • VHS Implementing a culturally safe & trauma informed approach training or equivalent
  • NVCI certification
  • First Aid certification
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Provide a driving record from the past two years, with no major traffic convictions or suspensions in that period
  • Applicants must identify and live full time as women (including cisgender, transgender, Two Spirit, intersex women) or non-binary to be eligible for this position.
