About The Position

Mohawk Valley Community College is seeking a Coordinator of Student Engagement for its Student Life department. This role is responsible for coordinating a vibrant student experience through a robust club and organization program, events, student governance, and leadership and applied learning opportunities. The Coordinator fosters student growth and development through engagement, ensuring all operations align with College priorities, policies, procedures, and budgetary constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with word processing and database software and ability to learn and use new technologies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students effectively
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis.

  • Experience in student engagement, student activities, or campus programming
  • Event planning, leadership development, or program coordination experience

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and promotes student engagement programs consistent with the College’s strategic plan and mission.
  • Develops annual program goals and assessments in conjunction with student life leadership.
  • Coordinates and assigns work for student engagement related functions.
  • Assists students with event planning to ensure College and SUNY policies and procedures are followed.
  • Plans and/or leads the implementation of programming to commemorate recognition such as Women’s History Month, Black History, etc.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners for community programming.
  • Coordinates the New York State voter registration program for the College.
  • Coordinates a summer accepted student program that promotes the retention of accepted students.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to develop Applied Learning opportunities.
  • Develops, monitors, and coordinates budgets, including the Student Congress annual budget and the Student Engagement Office budget, under the direction of the Dean of Student Life.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports relating to student engagement materials.
  • Co-Coordinates the Rome Campus Activities program with Rome staff.
  • Provides leadership development opportunities.
  • Advises Student Congress.
  • Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates part-time staff as needed.
  • Performs other duties related to this job description and as assigned by the Dean of Student Life.
