This role is essential to enhancing the student experience by ensuring equitable access and supporting academic success for students registered with Student Accessibility. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with students with disabilities, maintains professionalism and confidentiality, and brings a data-informed, student-centered approach to building inclusive support systems.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills, strong commitment to access and opportunity, high level of confidentiality, and familiarity with ADA law and accommodations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to prompt, timely responsiveness.
  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively and develop relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Psychology, Communications, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Student Accommodation and Support Services: Conduct intake meetings, manage ongoing communication across multiple platforms, and review documentation to determine individualized accommodations for students across academic, housing, dining, temporary, and campus life settings. Collaborate with students, the Director, and external providers to ensure accommodations are reasonable and appropriate. Arrange assistive technologies, alternate-format course materials, and other tools to support student needs. Guide students through the interactive process and equip them with effective self-advocacy and success strategies.
  • Community Engagement and Collaborative Programming: Lead educational initiatives and campus-wide programming to foster a culture of inclusion and awareness. Coordinate Disability Awareness Week, facilitate training for RAs and Peer Tutors, co-sponsor programs with clubs and departments, co-chair the annual Tunnel of Consciousness, and manage the Accessibility Awareness Space. Collaborate with Life Coaches, Student Success Coaches, Student Life Staff, and faculty to ensure cohesive support for students with disabilities in academic and co-curricular settings.
  • Accessibility Administrative & Testing Support: Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of the Student Proctoring Program, including hiring, training, and evaluating proctors. Support the accessibility testing center to ensure students receive appropriate testing accommodations. Work closely with the Coordinator of Student Success Operations & Testing to organize, proctor, and monitor exams, continuously enhancing the testing experience. Notify faculty of student accommodations, provide guidance on inclusive instruction and legal compliance, and manage data and resources.
  • Operations & Office Coverage: Provide timely and exceptional support for division operations and events such as START and Orientation. This is an in-person position with typical hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to adapt start and end times as necessary. Some evenings and 1-2 weekends annually may be required based on division and student needs.
