About The Position

The Coordinator of Expanded Learning Programs is responsible for leading expanded learning programs delivered before school, after school, and during summer. This is a grant-funded position with LakeVille Community Schools, serving approximately 1025 students in PreK-12th grade. The district is a 1:1 technology K-12 environment and utilizes "The Leader in Me" curriculum. The role involves creating and maintaining programs, directing staff, managing schedules and promotional materials, ensuring a safe environment, recruiting staff and volunteers, recruiting students, organizing resources, fostering positive relationships, implementing special projects, attending meetings and trainings, maintaining program documentation, organizing field experiences, and meeting LARA Childcare Licensing requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least twelve (12) semester hours in education, child development, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Program Coordinator or closely related experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements.
  • Minimum of two years related experience in a leadership position or with an organization responsible for providing services to children and/or families.
  • Knowledge of community education, child development, out-of-school time, and expanded learning programs.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Must enjoy working with youth.
  • Evidence of accurate record keeping, financial management, and data collection skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to be flexible and adapt to changes, as necessary.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Works effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district.
  • Ability to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with parents/guardians and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining expanded learning programs that meet program goals and objectives in collaboration with administrative staff.
  • Directing the activities of the staff assigned to the program.
  • Preparation, distribution, and communication of program schedules, information, and promotional materials.
  • Maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment for children.
  • Working with school and district leadership to recruit staff and volunteers to support program activities.
  • Recruiting students and maintaining attendance at targeted levels.
  • Organizing and maintaining program resources, including healthy snack items, supplies, and equipment inventory.
  • Developing and maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship with students, school staff, community representatives, and the district leadership.
  • Implementation of special projects as needed.
  • Attending required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
  • Maintaining program documentation and ensuring that staff timesheets, documents, and attendance records are accurate and submitted by department deadlines.
  • Organizing field experiences for students, including off-site, outdoor activities, and special events.
  • Meeting all requirements and maintaining all paperwork for LARA Childcare Licensing.
