About The Position

The Coordinator of Curriculum collaborates with the director and fellow service-area coordinators to lead and support curriculum and instruction initiatives. This role provides visionary leadership to ensure innovative, research-based practices, supervises assigned staff, and drives continuous improvement aligned with the coordinator’s areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required
  • Texas teaching certification required
  • Successful classroom teaching experience required
  • Possesses a deep knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Exemplary communication and customer service skills required
  • Experience conducting professional development required

Nice To Haves

  • Texas principal certification preferred
  • Successful district-level (e.g., central office) experience preferred
  • Successful building principal or assistant principal experience preferred
  • Proven ability to contribute to a team of experienced, talented, and highly skilled professionals
  • Experience leading successful campus and/or district school improvement initiatives activities (i.e., including site-based processes, writing campus/district-improvement plans, budgeting, organizing turnaround teams, and state/federal reporting) preferred
  • Experience utilizing student achievement (e.g., state and locally developed assessment data) and teacher instructional data (e.g., classroom walkthrough, instructional rounds), to inform campus and/or district instructional planning, evaluation, and professional development preferred
  • Ability to connect content areas, initiatives, and programs to create coherent, aligned service delivery across all curriculum areas including LIFT, Academies, and district partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to foster trust, shared ownership, and a safe environment for honest communication and innovative thinking
  • Providing individualized coaching that supports consultant growth, autonomy, and high performance.
  • Experience managing state and federal grants preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, coaches, and develops Curriculum & Instruction personnel through empowering, non-micromanaging leadership that builds psychological safety, shared ownership, and high team morale
  • Collaborates with the director to strategically plan programs, allocate resources, and evaluate services, with a clear understanding of consultant capacity, workload, and skill sets
  • Provides research-based instructional leadership and connects content areas, initiatives, and programs to ensure coherent, aligned service delivery across the region
  • Collaborates with fellow coordinators and the School Improvement team to create unified strategies, shared planning, and seamless support for low-performing schools.
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with SASS supervisors and cross-department partners to align services, reduce silos, and ensure consistent, high-quality support to districts.
  • Cultivates a positive, collaborative team culture marked by high morale, trust, accountability, and psychological safety across both in-office and remote staff.
  • Engages in courageous, compassionate conversations that support alignment, performance, and growth while maintaining strong relationships and clarity of expectations.
  • Communicates with districts, campuses, charter schools, TEA, and ESCs to provide effective, research-based technical assistance and systemic processes to improve student performance
  • Provides content, best practices and pedagogical expertise in technical assistance and professional development to support improvement of instructional practices for monitoring and evaluating student learning
  • Collaborates with colleagues in and beyond the ESC to identify professional development needs through detailed data analysis and self-reflection to provide quality services to customers that positively impact student learning
  • Sets, modifies, and meets short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, peer and supervisor feedback, contemporary research, and analysis of student learning
  • Manages a state or federal grant, if applicable, and follows all guidelines and timelines outlined in the grant
  • Travels as a part of job responsibilities
  • Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the director
  • Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
  • Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region
  • Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
  • Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
  • Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
  • Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures
  • Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
  • Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
  • Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
