About The Position

The Coordinator of Accessibility Resources supports students with documented disabilities by evaluating medical and psychological documentation, determining eligibility, and authorizing appropriate academic accommodations. This role involves managing in-class, coursework, and testing accommodations to ensure equal access to educational opportunities in compliance with ADA, Section 504, and institutional policies. The specialist collaborates closely with students, faculty, and external service providers and plays a key role in institutional reporting and oversight of accessibility resources.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in higher education, student support services, academic advising, or disability services
• Proven experience managing accommodations and academic support for students with disabilities.
• Background in coordinating testing centers, tutoring, or academic accommodations.
• Familiarity with interpreting medical/psychological documentation and applying accommodations.
• Experience in liaising with external vendors and service providers.
• Strong understanding of ADA, Section 504, and higher education disability compliance.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
• Knowledge of assistive technologies and accessible software platforms.
• Proficient in report writing and data tracking (preferably with experience in NYSED reporting requirements).
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and lead training or presentations.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate medical and psychological documentation to determine accommodation eligibility.
• Approve and implement individualized accommodations, including but not limited to: In-Class: Accessible furniture, adaptive equipment, notetaking support, sign language interpreting, real-time captioning. Coursework: Assistive software tools and support. Exams: Distraction-reduced environments, enlarged print, extended time, readers, and scribes.
• Facilitate and schedule testing.
• Coordinate with the faculty member to have the exam sent to the office.
• Handle the schedule of exams and exam accommodations in place to be taken in the testing center.
• Have an exam proctor in place during testing for both group exam spaces and individual testing spaces.
• Manage both online and on-ground peer tutoring services.
• Report on Disability categories and programs that are occupationally specific or other degree.
• Liaise with technology partners to provide sign language interpreters, captioning services, and all other outsourced accommodations.
