About The Position

Health Advocates is seeking a Coordinator I for a client hospital site in Rancho Cordova, CA. This role involves processing attorneys’ requests for billing records and providing moderately complex clerical support within an assigned department under direct supervision. Health Advocates, founded in 1990, is the largest privately funded public advocacy company in California, providing Eligibility and Recovery services to California public health systems, private hospitals, clinics, health plans, government agencies, and individuals. The company is dedicated to identifying medical coverage from third-party sources such as Medi-Cal, Social Security (SSI/SSDI), and other health insurance programs to minimize uncompensated care. This position requires access to confidential protected health information (PHI), and employees are expected to protect the privacy of all PHI in accordance with Health Advocates’ privacy policies and procedures and as required by state and federal law, including but not limited to the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rule.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years of experience performing moderately complex general office assignments in a government, private, or public service organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong data entry and auditing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Ability to adapt and manage change in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to type 30 wpm

Responsibilities

  • Process attorneys’ requests for billing records
  • Provide moderately complex clerical support within an assigned department
  • Receive incoming mail
  • Respond to inquiries in writing, by phone, email, and fax
  • Sort and distribute correspondence and reports
  • Generate computer reports
  • Enter data into a paperless date entry system
  • Prepare email requests
  • Request and gather documents
  • Retrieve and file correspondence
  • Scanning, faxing, copying
  • Distribute various reports and data
  • Maintain and update various department logs and journals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
