Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Medical Technology/Immunology/Biology or other Life Science disciplines from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have Georgia State recognized certification in Medical Technology/Clinical Science.
  • Proven record in coordinating laboratory work in a clinical Flow Cytometry Laboratory
  • Minimum of 7 years clinical multi-color flow cytometry experience, extensive knowledge of flow cytometry bench work and data analysis.
  • Expertise in training staff in the flow cytometry laboratory
  • Computer skills: proficiency in MS Excel, knowledge of MS Word; basic statistics skills; expertise in laboratory information systems.
  • Ability to participate in assay development in clinical flow cytometry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving skills, team-building and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities; skills to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts and to draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to adjust to flexible schedules varied hours or work on-call.
  • Color vision acuity is required to safely perform the duties of this position: passing grade on Color-Acuity Screening Test required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in overseeing clinical flow cytometry laboratory operations.
  • Experience in laboratory –developed assays performance and assay validation.
  • Proven record of training personnel and technical expertise in
  • Operations of BD flow cytometers; knowledge of software DIVA and CANTO for quantitative and qualitative (pattern recognition) flow cytometry;
  • Extensive knowledge of different test formats for clinical flow cytometry (ISHAGE protocol, lymphocyte typing panels for immunocompromised patients, immunophenotyping for leukemia & lymphoma patients, rare event analysis testing)
  • Knowledge of cytometer-based and magnetic beads-based sorting techniques and applications for flow sort

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations and High-Complexity Testing in the flow cytometry laboratory and is committed to utilizing the most current technologies available.
  • Oversees a wide range of FDA-approved and laboratory-developed procedures in high volume clinical lab setting.
  • Takes a lead in performing laboratory-developed tests, validating novel assays and supervising specific lab projects.
