About The Position

Coordinates grades K-2 of a comprehensive parish Formation program and assists the formation and evangelization director in assessing readiness of first communicants. Assists the Grade 3-5 Coordinator with the annual summer Catholic Camp for K-5th grade. Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers; evaluates program curricula and supports parish as a resource in methods and theology. Assists in forming parents and volunteers to walk with these children in their faith in order to make disciples of them. Drives catechetical instruction in keeping with the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or equivalent in experience degree/license required.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate
  • Demonstrated history of good judgement.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to use various computer software programs; strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use various office machines (copier, phones, calculator, scanner, etc.) or ability to learn.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow directives from Pastor or Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Ability to receive, understand, retain, and complete verbal and written tasks.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work efficiently with staff, clergy, religious, and laity.
  • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well with people from a diverse variety of audiences.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for formation grades K-2.
  • Develops and implements parent/child formation content.
  • Assists the formation and evangelization director in assessing the readiness of first communicants.
  • Communicates and cooperates with other parish and diocesan organizations.
  • Invites, trains, motivates, evaluates, and promotes faith formation volunteers to support educational activity throughout the year and including assisting the 3-5th grade coordinator at the annual summer Catholic Camp/Program and children’s Stations of the Cross during Lent.
  • Support, inform and guide parish catechists in the areas of catechesis, doctrinal formation, liturgical formation, and pastoral formation.
  • Establish a collaborative relationship with parents and families, facilitating opportunities for parents in their role as first and best teachers of the faith.
  • Ensures (with assistance of Formation Administrator) necessary administrative requirements are followed, including but not limited to parental consent, safe environment, activity reporting and analysis, budget management.
  • Professional development through ongoing study, education, workshops, etc.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
