The Program Coordinator, EHS, oversees the administration, monitoring, and evaluation of Aecon’s US EHS programs and related operational activities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience leading, administering, analyzing, coordinating, or supporting environmental health and safety, occupational safety strategic initiatives OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience demonstrating the judgment, leadership capability, and technical expertise required to perform the position’s essential responsibilities successfully.
  • Demonstrated success developing, implementing, governing, and advancing environmental health and safety, emergency management, occupational safety, or risk management programs.
  • Recognized professional credentials, including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry, or comparable EHS certifications.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and state-specific occupational safety and environmental requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, incident management systems, contractor qualification platforms, and executive-level data presentation.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to drive to job sites.
  • Ability to travel for business throughout the United States may be required up to 25% of the time.
  • Flexibility is important as this position generally follows standard weekday business hours but requires flexibility to support business priorities during evenings, weekends, holidays, or other non-standard hours as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the administration, monitoring, and evaluation of Aecon’s US EHS programs and related operational activities.
  • Assists advisors in the development, implementation, and governance of EHS business continuity and hazard-specific plans.
  • Advises EHS leadership on applicable federal, state, and local regulatory obligations and reporting requirements.
  • Assists in the preparation, governance, and continuous improvement of EHS plans, procedures, guidance materials, and program documentation.
  • Advances organizational EHS awareness through strategic communications, enterprise campaigns, and preparedness initiatives.
  • Maintains oversight of subcontractor work-hour reporting to Corporate EHS and enables performance benchmarking, trend analysis, and informed decision-making.
  • Evaluates enterprise and operational risk through data analysis and drives corrective actions and mitigation measures through verified closure.
  • Synthesizes EHS data, risk indicators, and operational performance into executive-ready reports and actionable recommendations.
  • Provides EHS governance support for project mobilization, including alignment of project documentation and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Undertakes additional strategic priorities as assigned by the EHS Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
