About The Position

Universal Music Group is seeking a Copyright Coordinator to join the Miami office. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and brings strong organizational and administrative skills to the role.

Requirements

  • Bilingual: Fluent in English and Spanish with impeccable oral and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous and exceptional attention to details, especially with numbers.
  • Proficient in entering large amounts of data in spreadsheets.
  • Skilled in Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Strong internet researching capabilities.
  • Customer-service oriented: polite and courteous manner, strong interpersonal skills for interacting with stakeholders at all levels, both internally within UMPG and externally with our clients and the music marketplace in general.
  • Analytical problem solver.
  • Cooperative and enthusiastic team player and collaborator.
  • Organized and calm under pressure, strong project management skills, able to juggle and prioritize multiple projects within short turnover times.
  • Ability to learn quickly, maintain focus and be resourceful in resolving roadblocks.
  • Takes responsibility and ownership of tasks exhibiting excellent follow-through.
  • A love and deep understanding of Latin music.
  • 0-1 year of experience.
  • AA or higher preferred.

  • Basic understanding of music publishing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Contacting writer and publishing clients to request delivery of new song information and register these new songs into our system.
  • Researching incomplete data and liaising with A&R as needed to finalize registrations.
  • Reviewing the song schedules of newly signed writers for accuracy.
  • Researching song status at the databases of CMOs to ensure registrations are correct.
  • Assisting in resolving song disputes and overclaims with clients and external parties.
  • Creating, maintaining, and updating song delivery lists of writer catalogues.
  • Reviewing songwriters contracts for fulfillment status.
  • Maintaining the client roster and updating their contact information.
  • Onboarding new clients and helping them navigate the royalty portal UMPG Windows.
  • Answering external and internal song inquiries.
  • Routinely sending information to the mechanical licensing, film and TV licencing, digital copyright, and global administration departments.
  • Assisting the department with administrative duties as required.
