About The Position

Kobalt Music Publishing is looking for a Coordinator to join our Contract Administration team. This role is crucial for interpreting and onboarding client agreements, and managing copyright ingestion into internal systems. The ideal candidate is highly accurate, self-motivated, and capable of collaborating effectively with team members and cross-functional partners to ensure claim integrity and accurate administration.

Requirements

  • High level of written and spoken English and good communication skills are essential.
  • Tech-savvy with competency in GSuite software.
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel.
  • Obsessive attention to detail, analytical, and investigatory skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience reading and interpreting music publishing contracts.
  • 2+ years of experience in music publishing.
  • Experience with SQL a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advanced cross-trained team member, leveraging deep system knowledge and workflow mastery across both agreement and work process streams to act as a high-level execution resource and primary owner of key operational tracking boards.
  • Interpret and onboard key agreement terms from new long-form contracts into Kobalt’s bespoke publishing operations system, with primary focus on more complex or involved agreements.
  • Ingest copyrights (whether as part of a client signing or ongoing song deliveries) into Kobalt’s proprietary system.
  • Track and manage any conditional amendments to ongoing Kobalt publishing agreements.
  • Assist the wider Administration departments within Kobalt in the interpretation and implementation of contractual terms in client agreements.
  • Make relevant system updates as required for amended agreement terms.
  • Ingest works via our proprietary automated pipelines.
  • Work closely with Business Affairs to attend handover meetings and advise on the feasibility of proposed contractual terms for new clients.
  • Support the wider department’s strategic initiatives to streamline catalog processes related to the successful administration of client agreements.
  • Proactively update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure processes are documented and up-to-date.
