The Coordinator - Clinical at MSU/CCU is a full-time position responsible for providing and overseeing clinical care for a group of patients. This role involves specific assessments, procedural competence, and patient/caregiver education. The coordinator organizes clinical responsibilities, supervises RNs, CNAs, and HUCs, and collaborates with physicians, the Department Director, Medical Director, and other hospital staff regarding patient needs. A key focus is fostering a patient-centered culture through purposeful rounding, AIDET, and bedside shift reports. The position also plays a significant role in staff development, including arranging inservices, providing individual instruction, and coordinating skills development activities. Collaboration with the Department Director and Education Department is essential for identifying and addressing learning needs. The coordinator provides staff recognition, assists with department objectives related to finance, patient experience (HCAHPS), quality, safety, and staff/physician satisfaction. Human resource management support includes participation in hiring, coordinating orientation, time/attendance editing, performance appraisal input, and coaching/disciplinary actions. The role promotes Shared Governance, actively reviews processes for improvement, researches incident reports, and collaborates on performance improvement and Lean activities. Development and maintenance of clinical policies and procedures are also part of the responsibilities. Maintaining regular communication, assisting with department meetings, and providing leadership in the Department Director's absence are expected. Fostering teamwork and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (Idaho Nursing Practice Act, CMS, The Joint Commission) are critical. The coordinator must demonstrate a professional code of conduct and serve as a role model for the organization's mission, vision, values, and Standards of Behavior.
