About The Position

In 2026, Gwynedd Mercy University completed its historic Mercy in Motion campaign, raising over $35.3M since January 2022 with a focus on realizing its vision of becoming a Catholic leader in healthcare and professional education. The University seeks to build upon its momentum with an emphasis on engaging its over 26,000 Distinctive Mercy Graduates. The Coordinator of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving supports the UA team’s engagement and philanthropic efforts through creating a culture of philanthropy and engagement amongst recent alumni and current students. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for University Advancement for Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, the Coordinator will work to develop a pipeline of future donors to GMercyU through overseeing recent alumni giving to the GMercyU Fund and creating a student philanthropy effort. The Coordinator will work in tandem with members of the UA team and University Marketing and Communications to support alumni engagement and annual giving that inspires pride and connectivity to the University, with an emphasis on recent alumni. The Coordinator will also work with colleagues across campus to connect current students to alumni through mentorship and networking and create opportunities for student philanthropy. The ideal candidate must possess a strong enthusiasm for the mission and core values of GMercyU and for growing the participation amongst recent graduates and current students in engagement and philanthropy.

Requirements

  • One to three years of event planning, marketing, communications or fundraising experience.
  • Prior experience in alumni relations, development or student engagement preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and a team player.
  • Proven project management, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills; ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with both external and internal constituents.
  • Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency.
  • Proven success working with stakeholders; project management skills; experience in a data-driven environment; organizational skills; and the ability to lead, influence and motivate others are required.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Technology savvy
  • Ability to use discretion and uphold confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Fluency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, internet browsers, E-mail.
  • The ability and willingness to travel. A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Director of Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy and campus partners in developing professional development and affinity-based programs and events, both in -person and online, for recent undergraduate and graduate alumni
  • Serve as point of contact for alumni engagement at Move-In and Commencement
  • Develop opportunities for current students to connect with alumni through mentorship and networking in tandem with academic partners
  • Collaborate with University Marketing and Communications on social media content geared at engaging recent graduates and current students in philanthropy
  • Create and oversee recent alumni leadership giving society for the GMercyU Fund; identify potential alumni donors and steward appropriately
  • Create compelling appeals to recent alumni that showcase the impact of giving and connect philanthropy to mission and student experience.
  • Partner with appropriate university offices to incorporate philanthropy education into currently existing student programs such as convocation, orientation, and other opportunities such as class gift campaigns
  • Collaborate with Director of Annual Giving on growing recent alumni and student participation and volunteerism in Day of Giving campaigns
