Huntsman Cancer Institute’s Programs to Enhance Diversity ( PED ) Office is integral to our guiding principle to put the patient and community first as we strive to reduce cancer burden in our state and region. In alignment with the requirements of our National Cancer Institute Cancer Center Support Grant, the PED Office develops strategies and initiatives to improve access for patients with cancer across all communities, including research, patient care, faculty and staff training, professional workforce development, and engagement with the broader community in the area we serve. In partnership with leaders and teams around the organization, PED builds meaningful tools designed to improve the health of the community and ultimately deliver a cancer-free frontier required for lasting change. The Program Coordinator will organize and support all aspects of the Huntsman Cancer Institute ( HCI ) Programs to Enhance Diversity ( PED ) Office under the direction of the Sr. Director and Sr. Manager. The Program Coordinator will coordinate and implement projects to improve inclusion across HCI entities. They will coordinate internal work of the PED Department including assisting with the development, tracking, and reporting on strategic goals and objectives. This position will work with HCI and University of Utah trainees, staff, and faculty, and community leaders to design, develop, implement, and continually evaluate interventions that will improve equity at HCI including improving wellbeing and outcomes of populations in our community. Experience with underrepresented groups/populations is preferred. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content.
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of programs to meet the unique needs of diverse trainees, staff, and faculty.
  • Promote and market education programs, initiatives, and activities to HCI faculty, staff, and trainees.
  • Support in gathering data and measuring the success of programs; adjust delivery for effectiveness as needed; report progress/outcomes to PED team.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with HCI /U of U/U Health stakeholders and partners to ensure continued collaboration and alignment of goals.
  • Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines within a complex organization.
  • Engage with HCI community members in a personable, positive, and confidential manner.
  • Oversees administrative matters regarding the day-to-day operations and procedures of the HCI PED Department.
  • Support and collaborate with team members, providing assistance as needed; foster a positive and productive team environment.
  • May develop systems and maintain records to support and advance the department programs and initiatives.
  • Assess the impact of programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to enhance future program iterations. May prepare and present regular reports to management and stakeholders on program status and achievements.
