About The Position

The CLS Coordinator need to be a leader. He will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and compliance of the Cable Landing Station infrastructure (USA and Bermuda). This role ensures maximum network uptime, coordinates subsea and terrestrial backhaul activities, manages local vendor relationships, and guarantees strict adherence to US federal, state, and environmental regulations. The coordinator will be part of the local team in Boca Raton - Florida, working directly in the corrective, preventive maintenances and any other tasks on site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Technology or equivalent major is a must.
  • Must have 2-3 years of experience in the field of Optical Communications.
  • General knowledge of telecommunications technologies including: SDH, DWDM, OTN, Ethernet, and LAN technologies, and the inter-working of these technologies.
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills both in English and Spanish. (Portugues is considered a plus)
  • Ability to work closely with other team members and departments.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft applications
  • A first-hand working knowledge of network monitoring tools.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and carry 25 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Able to install cable, supports, and miscellaneous hardware as found in telecommunication systems and networks
  • Able to work with power equipments.
  • Able to work after regular work time and to be on call.
  • Experience with the following: QinQ, G.8032, 802.3ad, 802.3ag, STP, PBT, VPLS, MPLS, Traffic Engineering, BGP, IS-IS, IPv6, IPv4.
  • Familiarity with Metro Ethernet products & solutions
  • Knowledge of network security best practices
  • General knowledge of infrastructure (Genset, Air conditioning, powering and batteries bank)

Nice To Haves

  • hand knowledge of Salesforce trouble-ticketing database system.
  • General understanding of the overall industry direction with regard to telecommunication technologies and the applications they will support.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of SDH/SONET/DWDM transmission equipment related to Submarine Fiber Optic Cable System(s), including Power equipment interface and Management Systems based at CLS (Cable Landing Station) and the PFE (Power Feeding Equipment) for the electrical part of submarine system at CLS.
  • Conduct Preventive Maintenance tasks according to defined operations guidelines including but not limited to.
  • Provide Remote Hands for Collocated Customers.
  • Test Assistance and maintaining Preventive Maintenance Documentation.
  • Conduct all scheduled back-ups, firmware, or software updates per manufacturer standard.
  • Uphold SLA Requirements for all Carrier level occupants.
  • Process and manage all O&M activity within MTTR.
  • Interact with NOC (Network Operations Center) customer and telecommunication Carrier to fulfill any tasks related to any Planned or Unplanned Network Event.
  • Maintain Inventory System and spares cycle count of all DWDM submarine, transmission, power, and environmental control related systems.
  • Process and manage routine circuit testing and acceptance procedures to backhaul providers.
  • Maintain test equipment, interfaces, modules, firmware updates and their calibration for operational availability.
  • Demonstrate expertise using network monitoring tools to monitor and operate several network sites supported.
  • Responsible for taking customer calls and working with them to understand technical related issues.
  • Manages customer circuit implementation test and turn up.
  • Assists in the development of technical requirements for new products, Answering inbound calls regarding customers’ concerns.
  • Hands-on customer and network configuration in support of installations and network growth Tier-2/3 complex network & customer support
  • Maintenance and Implementation of IP Network Monitoring, growth augmentation and configuration backups.
  • Complete Network Documentation and procedures and plans for regular maintenance of equipment and logging of all maintenance events by network and Equipment.
  • Network Security.
  • Network Maintenance, software testing and implementation.
  • Own, manage, and evaluate L2/L3 IP test plans, tunneling, QOS and acceptance criteria for all network designs.
  • Field works – To solve issue locally (local configurations, hardware e fiber management).
  • Perform on-site inspections and monitor the CLS building and alarms.
  • Perform low-voltage electrical building maintenance.
  • Perform periodic checklists for infrastructure routines.
  • Suggest, implement and monitor good safety practices for CLS infrastructure facilities.
  • Identify, implement and monitor the need for corrective and predictive maintenance in CLS infrastructure.
  • Monitor customer installations in the colocation facility.
  • Perform small installations to serve customers in the colocation facility.
  • Install circuit breakers for AC and DC.
  • Monitor third-party maintenance of the air conditioning system, fire system, electrical installations, water system, generator system, battery system and any other task in CLS infrastructure.
  • Coordination of the CLS operations technician team in the USA and Bermuda.
  • Coordination of tasks and activities of the CLS operations team and monitoring of progress to ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Ensuring notifications and communications of all preventives, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities in conjunction with the NOC.
  • Coordination with clients for the execution of remote hands-on activities in accordance with SLAs.
  • Ensuring compliance with CLS safety standards and policies.
  • Monitoring of alarms managed by the infrastructure monitoring system, notification of events to the NOC, and escalation of situations according to criticality.
  • Coordination and follow-up with outsourced support and maintenance companies, ensuring compliance with the SLAs signed in the contract.
  • Planning of operations schedules for the operations technician team, ensuring coverage of operations in accordance with SLAs.
  • Developing, maintaining, and adhering to the technical and procedural documentation of CLS operations processes.
  • Active participation in internal and external meetings, facilitating the timely delivery of required information.
  • Identifying areas for operational optimization, adhering to best practices in CLS operations.
  • Managing the budget to meet operational goals.
  • Participating in the execution of new projects for the evolution of the data center environment.
  • Tracking failures, diagnosing and analyzing root causes.
  • Preparing documentation and purchase requisitions.
  • Supporting and coordinating CLS providers and suppliers.
