About The Position

Performs ultrasonography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Uses independent judgment ingenuity and initiative to perform state-of-the-art diagnostic ultrasound procedures. This role also involves assisting in the employment process, maintaining adequate staffing and employee schedules, coordinating patient throughput, delegating workload, and functioning as an Ultrasound Technologist as needed. The position requires proficiency with clinical information systems, ensuring readiness for inspections, monitoring staff compliance, and operating within budget.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate accredited ultrasound program.
  • Require ARDMS registered within 1 year of hire or 2 years from graduation date, whichever is later.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Six months to one year clinical experience preferred.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing task frequently and quickly.
  • Must be willing to learn vascular ultrasound.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in conducting the employment process, to include participating in the interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining and terminating of employees.
  • Maintains adequate staffing based on department and shift needs.
  • Maintains employee schedule for all areas/facilities that you are responsible for.
  • Coordinates patient through put.
  • Aids in delegating workload evenly for Technologist and transport.
  • Functions as an Ultrasound Technologist as needed.
  • Become proficient with hospital and department clinical information systems by QCing all images, completing exams, and pertinent patient history (tech comments) on all exams.
  • Monitor the department clinical information systems reviewed study list and QA manager.
  • Ensures the Imaging Department is ready at all times for TJC, CMS and State inspections.
  • Monitor staff to ensure compliance and discipline as needed.
  • Required to visit other areas of your responsibility at least monthly.
  • Provide monthly staff meeting for all areas and place minutes in the area designated.
  • Takes ownership in the departmental staffing process by being willing to work flexible hours, overtime, call, Holidays, weekends, and occasionally unscheduled shifts.
  • Must follow equipment handling guidelines.
  • Must keep all equipment in good working order and use it appropriately.
  • Ensure staff is cleaning equipment as outlined in the cleaning policy for Imaging Services.
  • Operate within budget and justify any variances monthly.
  • Participate in policies and procedures for Imaging Services in giving input in conjunction with TJC standards & elements.
  • Coordinates the evaluation of upgrading or replacement of existing capital equipment.
  • Uses 2 patient identifiers excluding pt. room number.
  • Conduct staff meetings including all facilities and place minutes in the book by Director’s office.
