About The Position

Focused Post Acute Care Partners is hiring a Cook for Focused Care at Sherman in Sherman, Texas. The Cook prepares meals in accordance with established menus, resident preferences, and dietary requirements, while following food quality, safety, sanitation, and infection-control policies. The role also supports the department’s food-service process and maintains clean, safe work areas. The Cook may be asked to perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, and speak English; communicate effectively; and follow verbal and written instructions.
Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods.
Food Safety Manager Certification, to be presented within 30 days of hire.
Ability to follow recipes and use basic math.
Ability to lead the team when the Director of Food & Nutrition Services is absent.
Ability to safely push, pull, lift, bend, kneel, and reach, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Must have a ROCKSTAR attitude.

Nice To Haves

One year of cooking experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; experience in a healthcare kitchen setting will be considered.

Responsibilities

Prepare food according to menus, resident diets, and preferences recorded on tray cards.
Complete scheduled cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing walls and equipment, while following sanitation, safety, infection-control, and PPE procedures.
Understand and carry out food ordering, receiving, storage, preparation, and service processes within the Department of Food & Nutrition Services.
Use equipment safely and promptly report equipment that needs service or repair.
Keep work areas clean and safe in accordance with sanitation, safety, and infection-control procedures.
Maintain regular attendance in accordance with company policy.
Provide positive customer service to residents, family members, guests, and team members.
Follow appropriate workplace behavior and the department dress code.
Perform other duties as needed.
