The Cook is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. This role reports to the Dietary Supervisor and involves preparing tasteful meals in large quantities, following menus and portion control guides, and accurately preparing special diets. The Cook also records food temperatures, prepares pureed foods, and maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. Cooperation with personnel in all departments is essential, as is adherence to cleaning schedules and assisting with meal service. The Cook will also participate in the training of dietary staff and ensure food presentation is appealing to residents. This position has supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
