About The Position

The Cook prepares meals efficiently and attractively according to provided menus and recipes, and may direct other dining staff to help ensure quality food for residents and customers. The role may work under the direction of Chefs and Dining Service Supervisors. Responsibilities include preparing a range of meals and food items, maintaining food quality and appropriate portions, and following sanitation, infection-control, food-handling, and workplace safety procedures.

Requirements

Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily.
Ability to plan, organize, interpret, make independent decisions, and direct employees’ work.
Must have or be willing to receive a Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience in institutional cooking, prep cooking, or kitchen work preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, alternative menus, special-event and catering foods, cafeteria foods, and dietary-restricted foods according to standardized recipes, production sheets, or direction.
Prepare appealing, high-quality meals; test and taste food to check flavor, consistency, texture, and temperature.
Prepare appropriate portion sizes and quantities according to standardized production menus, and promptly prepare alternate items or additional quantities when requested.
Maintain sanitation and organization in the kitchen and dining area, and use and maintain equipment according to safety and operating instructions.
Follow infection-control and safety procedures, including proper handwashing, food preparation, storage and disposal, and use of protective clothing and equipment.
Follow EverTrue policies, applicable regulations, and food-handling practices; promptly correct or report hazardous conditions, defective equipment, and accidents or incidents to a supervisor.
