Reporting to the Manager of Food Services, Breakfast Cook provides support to the preparation, serving and clean up associated with all meal services in the Residence/Home. Position Summary : External Posting - Part Time Permanent Breakfast Cook. 7 hr/day ,28 hr/ bi-weekly. Every Friday and every other weekend (other days as require, open availability)

Requirements

  • Individuals who are certified with a Cook, Red Seal Certificate ,ompletion of an accredited Program of Culinary school or currently enrolled in a health care food services worker-training program.
  • Current Food Handlers Certificate from Public Health
  • Vulnerable Screening Sector Check.
  • Must have experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a health care or long term care setting.
  • Must be able to read, write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must demonstrate proper food preparation and presentation for a variety of cultural preferences.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the Ontario Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
  • Must be knowledgeable of special, therapeutic, and texture modified diets.
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift.
  • Must be able to work accurately, quickly, and safely.
  • Must be an effective team player that works well with others.
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with long-term care residents.
  • Individuals who are certified with a Cook, completion of an accredited Program of Culinary school or Red Seal Certificate.
  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the preparation, serving and clean up associated with all meal services in the Residence/Home.
  • Able to perform duties assigned by Nutrition Manager
  • Must have leadership ability and be able to direct the dietary department in the absence of the Nutrition Manager of Dietary Services.

Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $23.40 ( before probation ) , $23.96 ( after probation)
