This position is a part-time role with rotating shifts. The Cook prepares, assembles baked goods, cooks, seasons, and portions food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors of the designated facility, ensuring adherence to menu and dietary requirements. The role involves maintaining high standards of food quality, appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Responsibilities include washing and cleaning duties in cooking and serving areas, maintaining proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery. The Cook prepares and provides the highest quality and safest food possible, requiring excellent communication and teamwork skills to work with various internal customers in a dynamic culinary environment. The position follows standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines for food preparation, storage, and use, documenting critical steps, temperatures, and outcomes. Operation of various kitchen equipment is expected. The role requires the ability to work independently, an understanding of food safety and sanitation, basic math skills for measurement, and proficiency in reading recipes. The Cook must be able to be on their feet for the majority of the day and walk significant distances within the hospital.
