The Cook prepares food in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations with United Church of Christ Homes' established policies and procedures to assure that quality dining service is provided. This role serves as a replacement for the full-time cook when they are off, ensuring menus are maintained and filed, and preparing palatable and aesthetically appetizing meals. The Cook also prepares and serves substitute foods, assists in establishing a food service production line, ensures correct diets are served, and helps with inventorying and storing food supplies. Additionally, the Cook assists with food preparation for special events, directs daily cleaning duties, maintains food storage areas, disposes of food and waste properly, and maintains a safe work environment. This position involves directing day-to-day functions and providing leadership and guidance to employees.
