This position involves preparing, assembling, cooking, seasoning, and portioning food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors according to menu and dietary requirements. The role adheres to food quality standards for appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation, and performs washing and cleaning duties to ensure cleanliness in cooking and serving areas. It also involves maintaining proper labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery, and preparing the highest quality and safest food possible. The cook will work with many internal customers, requiring excellent communication and teamwork skills, and must be able to thrive in a dynamic culinary environment. The position follows standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines for food preparation and storage, documents HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes, and operates various kitchen equipment. The cook must be able to work independently, understand food safety and sanitation processes, perform basic math for measurements, and read and understand recipes. Physical requirements include being on feet for the majority of the day and walking significant distances throughout the hospital.
