About The Position

Palm Point Behavioral Health (affiliated with Universal Health Services) is a 74-bed behavioral health hospital located in Titusville, Florida. The hospital treats adults, children, and adolescents with a range of behavioral health diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Palm Point Behavioral Health offers inpatient treatment options and serves communities in Brevard County and beyond. The PRN Cook is responsible for maintaining principles of proper food production and other related activities. This role involves preparing and cooking foods according to the menu, conferring with supervisors regarding leftovers and menu changes, and maintaining accurate inventory. The Cook is expected to uphold high standards of food handling, cleanliness in the work area, and personal hygiene. This position works collaboratively with other department employees to provide optimal food, nutritional, and environmental services to patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring the healing and well-being of each individual. The role performs various tasks that facilitate the provision of food services and nutrition support.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.
2 years experience preferred.
Safe Serve Certification Required.

Responsibilities

Prepares, seasons, and cooks food for patients, staff, visitors, and special functions.
Uses cook chill or conventional cooking methods to prepare quality foods for patients/cafeteria to achieve customer satisfaction.
Reviews menus to determine types and quantities of food.
Participates in the process of ordering supplies.
Avoids waste and uses resources effectively.
Labels and dates prepared food prior to storage.
Prepares quality food in sufficient quantities to cover all service requirements.
Uses batch cooking methods as appropriate to ensure quality and minimize waste.
Utilizes leftovers as appropriate.
