About The Position

The Cook prepares and serves meals for residents, guests, and team members in a senior living community. The role uses daily planners and standard recipes, works the food line during mealtimes, and ensures food quality, safety, sanitation, and resident and guest satisfaction. Cooks collaborate with the culinary and dining team and maintain a positive, professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, and co-workers.

Requirements

• Communicate clearly and effectively in English.
• Have or be willing to obtain the necessary food-handling and sanitation licenses.
• Have basic computer skills.
• Have entry-level proficiency with Excel and Word.
• Be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Be able to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
• Maintain a positive and friendly demeanor toward residents and co-workers.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in production cooking and/or preparing therapeutic diets is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food using the daily planner and Senior Lifestyle Communities (SLC) standard recipes.
• Work the food line during mealtimes.
• Ensure food meets safety guidelines and kitchen areas meet sanitation guidelines.
• Respond quickly to resident and guest needs and requests to support satisfaction.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Collaborate with the culinary and dining team.
