This position is responsible for and actively participates in food preparation for all meals and snacks for residents/participants, ensuring quality and good presentation. The role involves the timely completion of food production and service, understanding and ensuring specific therapeutic dietary needs of residents/participants, and working closely with the Food Service Director to maintain therapeutic diets and nutritional meals while adhering to state and local health regulations. The Cook also assists in maintaining food service equipment, ensuring it is sanitary, safe, and in good working order. This role requires reporting for shifts in uniform and on time, communicating and coordinating with the Food Service Director and other managers for food service events, and coordinating meal service schedules with other department directors and staff. The Cook is responsible for the organization and cleanliness of dietary storage areas, conducting pre-meal meetings with dietary staff, monitoring safe food handling techniques, and completing necessary logs and reports. The position also involves ensuring proper storage of leftovers, communicating with the Food Service Director about departmental issues, attending staff meetings and in-services, and performing other duties as assigned.
