About The Position

Candlestone Assisted Living and Memory Care is seeking a Part-Time Cook. This role is responsible for preparing and serving planned menus while maintaining quality standards in the dining services department. The cook will prepare tasteful, nutritionally balanced meals with consideration for resident preferences and food safety, ensuring pleasing plate presentation and proper preparation of special diets. Responsibilities also include dining room service, inventory assistance, maintaining kitchenettes, following sanitation schedules, participating in special event preparation, and promoting positive relationships with residents, staff, and visitors. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work with minimal supervision
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Professional telephone etiquette and customer service skills
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Communicate in a respectful and professional manner with residents, families, co-workers and leadership staff at the community
  • Developed organizational skills
  • Ability to problem solve and demonstrate good judgement

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of experience with cooking and baking from scratch in a commercial setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tasteful, nutritionally balanced meals based on pre-planned menus
  • Prepare meals with consideration of resident preferences and food safety standards
  • Responsible for ensuring pleasing plate presentation for all meals
  • Ensuring resident special diets are offered and prepared, recognizing a resident’s right to choose
  • Complete dining room service, including set up, service and clean up with high hospitality standards
  • Assist with inventory and maintain supplies in all common area kitchenettes
  • Follow the sanitation schedule for kitchen, equipment, and dining room to maintain standard of sanitation and cleanliness
  • Participate in preparation for special events
  • Promote positive relationships with residents, staff and visitors
  • Perform any other duties as requested within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.
