About The Position

Immanuel Communities is seeking a Full-time Long-term Care Cook to work at The Lighthouse, located at 17600 Arbor Street, Omaha, NE 68130. The Lighthouse has 54 skilled nursing and long-term care suites. Experience working as a cook in a healthcare setting is required. This position will pay up to $19.68/hour. Pay will be based upon experience, certifications, skills and education.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • One (1) year of cooking experience in a healthcare setting is required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years old required.
  • Knowledge of food standards and sanitation practices (e.g., food-borne illnesses cross-contamination, etc.)
  • Knowledge of good customer service practices.
  • Skills in food preparation.
  • Skills in creativity, enthusiasm, and a consistent positive attitude.
  • Must work well with others.
  • Ability to calculate amounts of ingredients when adjusting recipes.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and follow through with oral instructions.
  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to carry items back and forth between locations.
  • Ability to verbally communicate in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ability to serve residents in a courteous manner.
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of residents and co-workers.
  • Ability to follow procedures and instructions as written by management.
  • Ability to meet all safety and sanitation guidelines as written by Immanuel.
  • Ability to treat all types of people with compassion.

  • Operating industrial sized professional grade food service equipment preferred.
  • Lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience requirement.
  • Food Handler certificate is preferred.
  • Serve Safe certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, distributing, and storing all foods according to department policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with inventories, records, portion control, special function preparations, and cost controls according to departmental standards.
  • Operating the department with minimum of waste and maximum efficiency, working closely with supervisory personnel.
  • Maintaining standards of safety and sanitation of all equipment and work areas.
  • Serving as back up for Team Lead.
  • Supporting and living out Immanuel’s Mission and CHRIST Promises.
