About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to correctly and quickly prepare food orders placed by the customers; to ensure pizzas and other baked food products coming out of the oven have been prepared according to the customers’ orders; separate and organize all items for each individual order; separate orders based on whether the product is for dine-in, carryout, or delivery customers. Orders are then either boxed for carryout or delivery, or given to Servers for service in the dining room. Cooks also prepare in advance of their need items used in the preparation of products sold by Pizza Hut, operate the cash register, wash dishes, and answer phones. This is a critical position to the success of this Pizza Hut restaurant in that these are the Company's products.

Requirements

  • Be able to perform or learn to perform the essential functions of the position at an acceptable pace.
  • Mental alertness/intelligence to track item progress, quickly and accurately determine product flow out of the oven, and work effectively without supervision or assistance.
  • Sufficient physical condition to perform the functions of the position.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pound boxes of cheese and 40 pound cases of wings.
  • Must be able to stoop down and bend over to stock items.
  • One hundred percent of on job time is spent standing and walking.
  • Must have sufficient visual ability to read written instructions, prepare food items, and maintain a clean area.
  • Must possess sufficient hearing capacity to respond to verbal orders and instructions and hear customer orders over the phone.
  • Must be able to provide verbal information to co-workers and supervisors and verbalize order instructions to customers.
  • Hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to manually prepare food products following exact weights and measures.
  • Must be physically able to work under conditions of high temperature (ambient temperature often exceeds 80 degrees Fahrenheit in food preparation areas).
  • Must be able to reach into ovens and reach overhead for items.
  • Must be able to read at a sufficient level to follow written directions for product preparation, recipes, and comprehend simple written commands.
  • Must be able to work under conditions of extreme stress due to pressures from volume of business, time, and variety of orders, while maintaining self-composure and interacting effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food orders placed by customers correctly and quickly.
  • Ensure pizzas and other baked food products are prepared according to customer orders.
  • Separate and organize all items for each individual order.
  • Separate orders for dine-in, carryout, or delivery customers.
  • Box orders for carryout or delivery, or give to Servers for dining room service.
  • Prepare items in advance for use in product preparation.
  • Operate the cash register.
  • Wash dishes.
  • Answer phones.
  • Turn on equipment used in the preparation of products (e.g., dough proofer).
  • Review prep list prepared by management to determine daily preparation needs.
  • Turn on all equipment used in the kitchen for preparing customer orders.
  • Prepare sauce for pizzas following standard recipes.
  • Prepare dough for different types of pizza crusts following job aids.
  • Prepare other items as called for on the prep list following standard recipes and procedures.
  • Store prepared items in the walk-in refrigerator.
  • Operate computer system to take orders.
  • Prepare items such as pasta, garlic bread, sandwiches, wings, breadsticks, and pizzas per customer orders.
  • Coordinate preparation of items to ensure all ordered items are prepared quickly, correctly, and at the same time.
  • Read order tickets to determine pizza type, size, and ingredients.
  • Select the correct type of dough.
  • Place correct type and amount of toppings, sauce, and cheese on pizzas according to specifications.
  • Place pizza in the oven for baking.
  • Attend to food items being baked in the oven or insert other items.
  • Prepare other items as ordered by the customer following standard written recipes and procedures.
  • Check product as it comes out of the oven for proper preparation, correct ingredients, even distribution, and proper baking.
  • Cut pizzas into the correct number of slices.
  • Operate cash drawer and make change correctly.
  • Assist customers by taking orders over the telephone or at the front counter.
  • Enter orders into the computer system.
  • Restock the make table and cut table as needed.
  • Clean up and close down work area upon restaurant closing.
  • Clean out the reach-in cooler.
  • Clean the top and front of the oven.
  • Cover all food items with clean covers.
  • Clean all stainless steel surfaces.
  • Clean out the inside of the make table.
  • Arrange work area to make pizzas.
  • Prepare meat mix and veggie mix.
  • Fill the make table with sufficient stock for anticipated business.
  • Bring pre-panned pizzas to the make table for topping.
  • Keep the customer-visible work area clean during progress.
  • Clean all equipment used in prep work.
  • Clean and organize shelves in the walk-in refrigerator.
  • Respond to customers at the carryout counter and drive-thru window.
  • Locate orders.
  • Cash out customer tickets in the computer.
  • Verify orders and thank customers.
  • Perform assigned clean-up and restocking responsibilities at the end of the shift.
  • Clean and prepare the work area for closing and the next day's business.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Refill and restock items on the make table, reach-in cooler, and walk-in refrigerator.
  • Break down and clean the make table.
  • Break down and clean the wing fryer, cut table, and other equipment.
  • Wash dishware, glassware, silverware, pans, and utensils.
