Requirements

  • Education and/or experience in food preparation that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience in a commercial and/or institutional setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the methods of preparing different types of foods in large quantities.
  • Knowledge of the temperatures of various foods
  • General knowledge of the Federal Child Nutrition Program.
  • ServSafe Certification

Responsibilities

  • Providing nutritionally adequate meals meeting the federal Child Nutrition Program meal patterns.
  • Maintaining required records, reports, and inventories in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Requisitioning food and supplies as needed.
  • Maintaining high standards of personal cleanliness as well as food sanitation.
  • Interpreting and following standard recipes and prescribed menus as well as specific oral and written instructions.
  • Checking the cost and quality of items received and insure proper storage.
  • Complying with policies and procedures of the Department.
  • Assuming any responsibilities as designated by the Youth Development Center Food Service Supervisor II, facility business officer, facility director, the Child Nutrition Program Administrator and Child Nutrition Program Administrative Officer.
