Requirements

  • Available to work weekends and holidays

  • Knowledge of cooking procedures and large quantity recipes
  • Ability to prepare and serve food according to menus and recipes
  • Willingness to train and participate in ongoing staff development programs

  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with employees, residents, and the general public in a friendly and professional manner
  • Must work scheduled weekends and holidays
  • May be required to work irregular schedules on short notice

Responsibilities

  • Comply with established policies, procedures, and standards, including the Compliance Program/Code of Conduct
  • Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all resident information, conditions, and family matters
  • Support all Dining Services restaurants and campus events
  • Prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations
  • Read food orders or receive verbal instructions, and prepare and cook food accordingly
  • Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items
  • Apply intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and maintain records for accurate planning and supply requisition
  • Comply with all HACCP policies and procedures
  • Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment following GSV and regulatory rules
  • Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times
  • Perform all duties efficiently, timely, and professionally
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Attend allergy and foodborne illness in-service training
  • Participate in classroom and virtual training programs as designated
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments
  • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner
  • Receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs, and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets
  • Produce batch goods using basic cooking techniques as needed
